Personal Profiles:
Larry Biddle: I have been involved in historic architectural preservation and communities all my adult life. It’s a pastime I didn’t know I wanted to pursue until I lived in Chicago in the ’70s. I literally wore out shoes discovering the birthplace of the modern skyscraper and other such architectural engineering feats, many of them beautiful homes. As a result, I was elected to the founding board of directors of the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio Foundation in Oak Park, IL. My interest goes beyond the buildings. I value them as representatives of communities in which people worked together to create refuge, as well as lasting emblems of creative talent. Soon after my partner, David Warner, and I began our relationship, we discovered our mutual interest in domestic architecture. No wonder we settled on buying a 1924 airplane bungalow — slightly reflective of Wright’s “Prairie School” design — and located in Roser Park, a community of people active in preservation and community development. My hope is to contribute to the community as it moves forward toward a collective vision for the future.
Debra Camfferman:
Born in Massachusetts (like half the people on Prospect Ct!), Debra grew up in Pinellas Park and graduated from USF. After a 23 year career at the defunct St Petersburg Medical Clinic, she now works for the City of Pinellas Park as a Programmer/Analyst. Debra moved to Roser Park with her (then) husband David in 1996 and joined HRPNA within a few months. She served as Treasurer for 5 years in the late 1990's, produced the newsletter for many years, has
chaired the annual Tour of Homes for the last two. She lives with three cats who have adopted her.
"The neighborhood was obviously on the upswing when we moved in and we were so lucky to find our beautiful 'Spanish style' house here. I enjoy serving in the association because of the fun, smart neighbors
who make Roser Park my extended family!"
Kris Caskey: I purchased my 1925 bungalow at 730 Roser Park Drive in March of 2007. Raised in Southern California and spending 13 years in Chicago, I moved to St. Petersburg after a two-year stint in Ft. Lauderdale, where Hurricane Wilma ultimately chased me out. Due to a legal issue between the tenant and property owner, I waited 12 months from the date of listing just to be able to view the interior of the Roser Park property. With a court order in hand, I finally was able to view my home but ended up walking away from the sale due to the extent of renovation necessary to bring the home back to its original luster. Ultimately, I realized I could always purchase a historic bungalow but would never be able to find one with the charm that Historic Roser Park had to offer, and with such a wonderful community of people devoted to our neighborhood. I’m new to the board as of the last election but intend on being an integral member to ensure Roser Park continues to thrive and maintain the integrity of its historic designation. Professionally I work as the director of accounting for a General Electric affiliate providing engineering services for nuclear, wind and gas energy services around the globe.
